Demolition of Doncaster Central Library, in the heart of Doncaster city centre to make way for the a much needed landscaped picturess public area fronting the shopping centre.
This required a fully designed protection scaffold to three elevations and substantial scaffold protection over an adjoining substation, with methodical sequential demolition by high reach, periodic reduction of the scaffolding as works progressed. Finally removing the building slab.
It had its own challenges with temporary works which included protection over shallow underground services within the building footprint, propping and separation from the rear shopping centre, and protection to the adjoining substation which had to remain intact and operational throughout.
This project was delivered without incidents and we gained the respect of the local council, businesses, residents and general public.
